Toms River, NJ - The Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention,
an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health
Network, is offering a free two-day training program
for parents going through a separation or divorce
called Children
in the Middle on
Tuesday, May 12 and 19 from 6 - 8:30 pm at the
YMCA Children’s
Achievement Center in Hazlet, NJ.
Children
in the Middle is the only designated divorce education
program and has been nationally endorsed by judges,
lawyers, mediators, psychologists and teachers. Developed in 1992
by a clinical child psychologist/family therapist and a professor of
psychology, the program was designed to benefit parents with children
3 to 15 years of age who are going through a divorce or separation.
The program is designed for parents who are currently going through
a divorce or separation and would like to learn effective strategies
for parenting their children during this difficult time and assist them
in creating a parenting plan to meet the needs of the entire family. Through
this program, parents will learn to think about the situations where
conflict usually occurs and better navigate their options; use more
effective methods to reduce their emotional reactions to situations
and maintain control; and increase their effectiveness with and sensitivity
to their children’s needs.
