Mary Ellen McAlevey, MA, LPC, ATR-BC

Mary Ellen McAlevey is a Prevention Specialist III for Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Institute for Prevention. She holds a Master's degree in Art Therapy from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Currently the president of the New Jersey Art Therapy Association, she is a board-certified and registered art therapist, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey.

She has over fifteen years of experience working with teens and children in prevention and treatment. She has counseled children with such issues as: depression, anxiety, anger management, peer pressure, conflict resolution, and more.

Ms. McAlevey is author of the journal article "Art Therapy and the Title IV-E Grant in New Jersey." She has presented nationally for the American Art Therapy Association conferences and the National Conference on Tobacco or Health, and locally for the New Jersey Art Therapy Association, the Delaware Valley Art Therapy Association, the New Jersey Counselors Association, the National Association of Social Workers-New Jersey chapter, Art Educators of New Jersey, Rutgers University School of Social Work, Georgian Court College, and local boards of education on a variety of topics. She has presented numerous times for Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health Institute for Prevention.
