SELF MUTILATION: AN ACT OF EMOTIONAL SURVIVAL
Today's youth deal with a multitude of challenges, including acceptance by peers, academic pressure and family dynamics. In order to cope with these stressors, many youth turn to self-destructive behaviors in an act of emotional survival. Youth Suicide: Preparing the Professional Before it's Too Late
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24 and the sixth leading cause of death for youth ages 5-14. Participants will learn to identify the signs of suicide, learn prevention techniques and have the opportunity to practice effective intervention strategies.
